NYU School of Medicine Epidemiology Program seeks healthy
African-American volunteers age 20-70 to donate a small amount of blood
(8cc, or 3 tablespoons) for research on environmental risks and
tobacco metabolism. Smokers and non-smokers are needed.
The study will explore a variation in a gene that is involved in the
metabolism of tobacco compounds. A better understanding of the frequency of
this variant may contribute to the explanation of an increased risk of
tobacco-related cancers observed in African-Americans.
Volunteers will be paid $20.
