OWL, as well as 'nr' and other databases, are searchable with 
BLAST and fasta, respectively, on various EMBnet nodes using 
the HASSLE system. If you do run HASSLE already all you need 
to do for OWL is to add the line 

owl     owl      yeti.embnet.unibas.ch  GUEST DEMO  120

to the support.dat file (for FETCH and FASTA), and 

owl             protein         hassle           s-crim1.dl.ac.uk

to the blastdata.dat file for BLAST type of searches.
