After six months of operation, the
ExPASy molecular biology WWW server
has reached it's cruise speed with enhanced features. The server, which may
be found at
http://expasy.hcuge.ch/
gives access to SWISS-PROT (protein sequence database), SWISS-2DPAGE (2-D PAGE
image database) and SWISS-3DIMAGE (collection of crystalized proteins), with
hypertext links to EMBL, PROSITE, MEDLINE, OMIM, PDB, REBASE, FLYBASE, etc.
SWISS-PROT may be searched by keywords on protein description (ID, DE, OS, OG
and GN), accession number (AC) and referenced author name, as well as by
performing a full text search.
SWISS-2DPAGE may be accessed from any SWISS-PROT entry or by clicking on a
spot on any of the available reference protein maps.
Also, the server has now been upgraded to a SPARCServer 10/51, which will
provide faster access. It is now officially maintained by the Geneva University
Hospital. This will garranty minimal down time in case of trouble.
