The Third Symposium on Life Sciences and Biotechnology for
Chinese Bioscientists, Overseas and Returned will be held in Beijing
>From July, 21 to 24, 1995.
The previous two symposia on Life Sciences and Biotechnology for
Chinese Bioscientists, Overseas and Returned, provided opportunities for over
200 overseas and domestic scientists to participate in the exchange of ideas
and information in a relaxed environment. It is now officially established as
an annual event sponsored by the National Science Foundation of China. The
conference will be organized by Peking University and the Association for
Chinese Biologists (North America Regional). The third symposium will be held
>From July 21 to 24, 1995. The focus of this symposium will be signal
transduction, developmental sciences, and biotech/pharmaceuticals. Other areas
include gene expression in plants, protein engineering and drug design,
eukaryotic gene expression, human and rice genome studies, gene therapy,
environmental biology, neurology and immunology. One purpose of this meeting
is to invite oversea scientists to negotiate collaborations with scientists
in China to work on projects which may be designated as prior topics by
National Science Foundation of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences, National
High Technology Program, State Education Commission, and State Commission of
Science and Technology. Biotech industry in China is also eager to identify
expertise in downstream manufacture.
The conference will sponsor a business session. Chinese and foerign
biotech and pharmaceutical companies are welcome to participate in exhibition
of products and/or discussions with chinese colleagues to look into
possibilities of co-operation. Booths will be available for exhibition.
