A powerful and elegant writer, Mr. Styron has received the American
Book Award, the Howells Medal, the Edward MacDowell Medal, and the
Pulitzer Prize. Other books written by Mr. Styron include "Lie Down
in Darkness," "The Long March," "Set This House on Fire," "The
Confessions of Nat Turner," "Sophie's Choice," "This Quiet Dust," and
"A Tidewater Morning."
In the past this innovative series as included readings by Susan Sontag,
Oliver Sacks, Richard Selzer, Gerald Weissman, and Sherwin Nuland.
