            Computers in University Biology Education 1997
                               (CUBE 97)

                     The University of Liverpool
               Tuesday 15th to Wednesday 16th July 1997

The Programme

This CTI Biology conference is aimed at all those involved and
interested in the use of computers in tertiary Life Science teaching.
The event will provide an opportunity for delegates to share
experiences of using computer technology in Biology education.

The programme will include morning plenary sessions on:

 * Open & Distance Learning       * Quality Assessment of Education
   (Tuesday)                        (Wednesday)

Offered papers and demonstrations are invited for all areas relating
to learning technology in Biology teaching. Specific areas to be
covered include:

 * Bioinformatics                  * Learning Technology Case
 * Computer Based Assessment         Studies
 * Future technologies

Call for Proposals

You are invited to submit proposals related to the conference theme

 * a stand alone paper (15 mins + 5 mins questions)
 * a poster
 * a software demonstration

Stand alone papers will be presented in the afternoon sessions, but the
final programme will be finalised after papers have been accepted.
There will be a commercial exhibition where posters and demonstrations
will be mounted. Accepted papers will be published in the CUBE 97
Conference Proceedings.


Abstracts of 350 words outlining the focus of the project, the results
and conclusions should be submitted by 6th June 1997. Proposals should
be submitted both on paper and on disk (PC) in MS Word or ASCII text

The Venue

The 2 day event will be held in the main lecture block at Liverpool
University, which has good projection facilities. There will be a
sherry reception and conference banquet at the Merseyside Maritime
Museum on Tuesday evening. Accommodation and breakfast will be at the
Adelphi Hotel.


The cost of registration for both days is 95 pounds sterling, this
includes a conference pack, lunch and refreshments on both days, a
ticket to the conference dinner, and bed and breakfast at the Adelphi
Hotel. It is also possible to register as a day delegate for 30 pounds
