It is now possible to query a merging of the two protein
collections SWISS-PROT and TREMBL with the sequence database
management system ACNUC. All the files required for a local set-
up can be downloaded at URL:
ftp://biom3.univ-lyon1.fr/pub/acnuc/swissprot
Indexation with ACNUC makes possible the building of queries
using many criteria to retrieve sequences. Criteria are based on
mnemonics, accession numbers, keywords, taxonomic data,
bibliographic references, dates of insertion in the bank, etc.
It is possible to distinguish SWISS-PROT sequences from TREMBL
sequences using the `STATUS' criteria. Indeed SWISS-PROT entries
have a `STANDARD' status, while TREMBL entries have a `PRELIMI-
NARY' status.
Interrogation of SWISS-PROT/TREMBL is also possible through the
WWW-Query World Wide Web server. The home page of this server is
located at URL:
http://acnuc.univ-lyon1.fr/
All enquiries about ACNUC and the retrieval system Query should
be sent to Manolo Gouy (mgouy at biomserv.univ-lyon1.fr) and all
questions about WWW-Query should be sent to Guy Perriere
(perriere at biomserv.univ-lyon1.fr).
