The list of completed and ongoing microbial genome sequencing projects
is now available from the GenBank Genome division at
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PMGifs/Genomes/bact.html.

The list includes 17 genomes already present in public databases, 6
genomes with annotation in progress, 12 completely sequenced but
unassembled genomes, and 20 genomes with sequencing in progress. This
WWW page has links to the lists of genome sequencing projects maintained
at TIGR <http://www.tigr.org/tdb/mdb/mdb.html>, at INFOBIOGEN
<http://www.infobiogen.fr/doc/data/uncomplete_genome.html>, by Nikos
Kyrpides <http://geta.life.uiuc.edu/~nikos/genomes.html>, and by Terry
Gaasterland <http://www-fp.mcs.anl.gov/~gaasterland/genomes.html>; to
the list of microbial genome projects at the Sanger Centre
<http://www.sanger.ac.uk/Projects/Microbes/>, and to the list of
projects funded by US Dept. of Energy
<http://www.er.doe.gov/production/ober/EPR/mig_cont.html>.

If you are working on genome sequencing project and you would like it to
be listed on this page, please send a message to
genomes at ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

The page also has a link to the form one can fill to receive
notifications by e-mail about the new complete genomes in GenBank.
