A consortium of European bioinformaticians and systems biologists has submitted a proposal to The European Union entitled CONDALIS "Consortium to Provide Sustainable Exploitation of
Life Science Data".
EU Call 3 (FP6-2004-LIFESCIHEALTH5) Bioinformatics
"LSH-2004-1.1.4-1 Development of a European-wide package for creating and integrating relevant databases and analysis software to enable systems-level interpretation of complex experimental data in functional genomics"
More information can be found here: www.condalis.org.
"Scientists involved in life science research in Europe are not enabled to interpret data and results fast enough. Too much life science data and too many data analysis tools exist, and all in different formats and mostly unconnected. Scientists cannot make sense of this information flood. This hampers research and development, and as a direct result of that, efficiently combating the diseases that affect Europeans most. CONDALIS will change this, by bringing all essential data and analysis tools together in one virtual system. The scientist will be able to quickly find data, to combine it with other interesting information and data, and to directly proceed to the next analysis with the tools of choice. Scientists will not be overwhelmed by data anymore, instead they will be able to understand and use it, and as a result research and drug development will accelerate."
