I've located a metabolic database that appears to contain a tremendous
amount of material. Coverage of the enzymes involved in the metabolism
of carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, purines, and pyrimidines is
specifically mentioned in the documentation. It's been compiled over
the past ten years in Russia by Professor Evgeni Selkov. It known as
the EMP (Enzymes and Metabolic Pathways) Database. It has information
on 3300 different enzymes and pathways.
Information about the database can be obtained from Niels Larsen at
niels at truth.mph.msu.edu. Unfortunately, I don't think the database
will be placed on the web. My understanding is that it will be a
commercial release. Maybe if enough people ask, they'll make it
publically available.
