Intelligent drug design

Well in many cases the drugs are designed to inhibit metabolism,
and for that you can pick *any* enzyme in the pathway, provided
that the inhibition is strong enough. So there isn't much of a
need to identify the control coefficients.

Secondly there's a "target audience" aspect. I often give talks
on modeling while showing few, if any of the equations, because
that's a level of detail that will turn off much of the audience
and make the primary points/content less accessible. (I use
diagrams of the model structure instead.) In short, it may be
unnecessary detail that interferes with delivery of the primary
message.

FYI, at CIIT we constantly have to convince corporate executives
who have little or no appreciation for or understanding of the
details of the science why it is that they should continue to fund
the science in today's cost-cutting environment. So we have to
explain enough to let them know why the research is needed while
avoiding glazed eyes.
