My example A + B -> C of which A -> C is a part of the analysed
pathway and B is the last substrate of an "unknown" pathway, leads to
an interesting result concerning "ideal" channeling: If there are no
special complications and the reaction delivering B is unidirectional
(the normal case), channeling converts the sum of the coefficients into
zero.
Maybe I am wrong, but if not, this result plus the classical one (the
sum is unity) would form a frame within which intermediate cases could be
appropriately analysed.
