If you are like me you find it difficult to find old messages posted to the
news group, because the filing system requires you to remember which month
they were posted and the threading system cannot cope with threads that
span more than one calendar month. Maybe you don't want to find old
messages, of course, but sometimes it's useful to check what was said
previously, and with the dearth of relevants postings lately it's a lot
more interesting than wasting time on "FREE XXX PASSWORDS 4358" etc.
In an effort to solve these problems as painlessly as possible (because
anything that requires a significant amount of work for each item to be
indexed will not continue once the initial enthusiasm is gone) I have
created a system that allows me to add any page I have open to the
appropriate index with a single mouse click. At the moment there are 12
broad subject headings (Channelling, Chit-chat, Employment, studentships,
fellowships etc, Information about metabolic control analysis, Kinetics,
Meetings information, Miscellaneous topics, Off-topic but of possible
interest, Specific questions of biochemistry, Software, Theory of metabolic
control analysis, Thermodynamics), but others can be added if it seems
appropriate, and each goes back to the beginning of the year. The main
entry point is at http://ir2lcb.cnrs-mrs.fr/~athel/btkmca.htm.
