Hi,
I am working with some Drosophila stocks mutant in guanosine monophosphate
synthase and they are understandably recessive lethal. However, what I'd
like to know is why the phenotype cannot be suppressed by supplementing
the food with guanine or guanosine.
Could flies be incompetent for guanine/guanosine uptake? Are there other
plausible reasons for this failure to complement the defect nutritionally?
Thanks,
David
