For web pages, I'd use a generic Internet search engine such as
http://www.google.com.
However, the effect of pollutants (or fertilizers, in this case) on the
natural environment is a controversial topic. Various groups of people
are advancing opposing economic and/or political agendas on the
Internet. You will get one perspective on the environmental effect of
fertilizers (nitrates, ammonia and phosphates) from DuPont Chemical, and
quite another from an organization promoting organic farming.
For this reason, if you are at all serious about your research, you
should use *peer-reviewed* research literature, such as textbooks and
articles in environmental research journals. I'd take a trip to to the
nearest research library (say at a nearby university) and see what's
there.
