In 1982, Israeli soldiers Zachary Baumel (an American citizen), Yehuda Katz and Tzvi Feldman went missing in a battle with Palestinian and Syrian forces near the Lebanese village of Sultan Yaqub. In 1986, Israeli Air-force navigator, Captain Ron Arad was also captured in Lebanon. Arad is married and has one daughter.
After almost eighteen years of failed diplomatic efforts to secure the release of the missing men, the intervention of the international community is desperately needed. Recent Gallup polls have indicated that virtually all Israelis believe that the issue must be a top priority in the peace negotiations. ICMIS is launching an international campaign to gather at least 1,000,000 signatures on an Internet petition on behalf of Israel's MIAs and their families. Please join all of Israel in this humanitarian effort to force the hands of those who have turned Israel's missing sons into the longest held hostages in Lebanon.
