My view, step by statement:

>I just entered the newsgroup and believe you are discussing
>the topic of my Ph.D. thesis here at Karolinska. Prof Keith Tornheim
>at Boston University has been supervising this aspect of my thesis.
>
>I work with PFK and am doing math models as well as molecular
>biology with this protein. I know of no argument against
>PFK as rate limiting step.

This only indicates that you have not read the relevant literature.
Start with the book of David Fell:, Understanding the control of
metabolism. 1997 Portland press

>If you have such an argument, could you please explain.

That would mean doing your reading for you. All arguments have been
clearly spelled out in the literature of the past 25 years. One good
example :Bakker et al., 1997 J. Biol Chem 272: 3207-15

>Even better, if this is a sound
>argument, could I politely suggest publishing your idea in
>Science or Nature. None of my collegues working in this
>field are aware of this argument and such an argument
>could potentially discredit many dozens of publications by
>dozens of the most prominent biochemists in the world.
>certainly that would be cause for a major publication.

Nature and Science are not overly interested in publishing well
established arguments. That you and your collegues are not aware of
the relevant literature won't be very convincing to the editors.
Indeed the work of dozens of biochemists and, even worse, statements
in textbooks, are still based on outdated principles, but knowing the
literature is the responsibility of the individual scientist.

>Ideally, respond to my email address as I do not
>enter this group normally.

I you don't want to find out that your work is irrelevant in the
final stages of your thesis work, I would strongly advise you to
monitor discussions of this and other groups.

Best regards,
