"Microarray technology (including oligonucleotide arrays and cDNA arrays) opens
the door for monitoring mRNA expression of thousands of genes in a single
experiment. Expression profiling offers great promise to functional genomics
research research, and potentially transforms the diagnosis and treatment
of diseases."

This quotation from the announcement for a meeting to be held at Duke
University (Durham, Norh Carolina) on 18th-19th December illustrates the
view that simultaneous screening of many gene products will transform the
way in which diseases are understood, diagnosed and treated. This is
clearly an idea that ought to interest people in this news group interested
in understanding the systemic effects of changes in gene expression, so you
may be interested in more information about the above meeting, which may be
found at http://bioinformatics.duke.edu/camda. Abstracts are being accepted
until 12th November, i.e. for a little more than another week.
