Subject line restored to what it was. Connoisseurs of Pentcho Valev's
outpourings will notice that after all these years he still hasn't figured
out how to send a news group message with breaking the thread. Anyway, he
wrote:

>I think you have slowly been moving to the truth, Athel.

...and I said to myself:

I will not rise to the bait;
I will not rise to the bait;
I will NOT rise to the bait.

...but in the end it was too strong for me. I hope that I have been slowly
moving towards the truth, but there is one person that I fear has learned
nothing.

He continued:

>Idiot questions
>are very dangerous when they are taught (eg for a long time), but they
>are more than useful on a forum like this. Besides, idiots may turn out
>not to be idiots in the end (remember Julius Robert Mayer) and then
>those who have called them idiots may become famous.

For every misguided genius who was once derided there are a thousand people
who deserved all the derision they got. Mostly they are now forgotten,
which is why we remember the exceptions and give them more prominence than
they merit.

I thank Mr Valev for drawing attention to my web page where his ideas are
given a lot more attention than they are worth. The URL has changed,
however; it is now

http://bip.cnrs-mrs.fr/bip10/valevfaq.htm

(The old one should still get there, at least for the moment).

In his own words, he is "not an educator not even a scientist". People
inclined to take his opinions about the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics seriously
may like to bear this in mind.

As my web page makes abundantly clear (see, e.g.,
http://bip.cnrs-mrs.fr/bip10/valevfaq.htm#soundmind) the problem with his
contributions to this news group was never that people ignored them but
that he ignored the responses.
