Structural analysis of metabolism on a genomic scale.
A PhD studentship available from October 2004
This is a BBSRC studentship awarded by the Engineering and Biological
Systems Committee. As the topic is in a priority area, the PhD stipend is
£2000 pa higher than the standard grant, at £12,500 in 2004/5. The full
award is only available to students meeting the BBSRC's eligibility
requirements, which, with some exceptions, limits the award to those
normally resident in the UK (the link below gives further details). The
project is interdisciplinary, requiring a background in metabolic
modelling, microbial metabolism, molecular genetics, bioinformatics, and
programming in a high-level language (Python). Candidates should possess
qualifications or experience relevant to at least two of these areas and be
prepared to undergo training in the others.
The studentship is within Professor David Fell's Cell Systems Modelling
Group (see http://mudshark.brookes.ac.uk).
