The Medical Entomology Section of the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases
(NIAID, NIH, Bethesda, MD) is seeking a biologist to assist in a project
to develop techniques for the genetic transformation of mosquitoes. This
challenging project will include construction of vector plasmids,
testing in tissue culture, manipulation of mosquito eggs and embryos by
biolistics or microinjection and the subsequent rearing and selection of
transformed insects.
Candidates should have a B.S. or equivalent degree or higher and should
feel comfortable working independently. Prior laboratory experience in
molecular biology techniques is required, preferably together with
experience in tissue culture and/or transformation techniques used in
Drosophila, C. elegans, mammalian, yeast or bacterial systems.
This will be a term limited (2 year) appointment at the GS-9 level.
The position is available to only to U.S. citizens. Foreign nationals
with a Ph.D. are also eligible. The NIH is an equal opportunity employer.
