sequence analysis software

I'm wildly anticipating a shift from Mac to DOS operating systems.  That's
mostly fine with me, but I have no experience in DOS-based DNA sequence
analysis software.  I'd like to find the equivalent of DNA strider.  Can
anyone recommend a program?  Something that is freeware, shareware or
cheap would be ideal.
