RESEARCH AREA -
Newly identified function in E. coli involved with cell cycle and growth
control - GTP binding protein - Homologs identified in C. elegans and mammals
and mapped within respective genomes -
Experiments will involve genetic analysis of the function and signaling
within the bacterial cell cycle. Dominant negative mutants will be introduced
in C. elegans and mouse to examine effect on cell cycle and organism development
(information from bacterial dominant negatives will be used as a guide in the
eukaryotic studies). Biochemistry, immuno-precipitation and fluorescent studies
will be used to understand protein interactions and cellular localization.
Our laboratory is part of a diverse program having expertise in
bacterial, yeast, C. elegans, mouse and retroviral genetics. Position offers
