POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN THE QUANTITATIVE/EVOLUTIONARY
GENETICS OF C. ELEGANS

A postdoctoral fellow is sought to contribute to an NIH funded project
in the laboratory of Patrick Phillips, Department of Biology, University
of Texas at Arlington using the nematode, Caenorhabditis elegans, as a
model system for studying the genetics of quantitative traits. The
project involves identifying the loci responsible for quantitative
differences in chemotaxic response among individuals in both laboratory
and natural populations. The ideal candidate would have a solid
background in molecular and/or quantitative genetics. Individuals with
C. elegans experience who might be interested in moving into
evolutionary genetics are especially encouraged to apply. Duties include
marker analysis, molecular assessment of candidate loci, and,
potentially, transformation experiments.

UT Arlington is located directly between Dallas and Fort Worth. The
salary is US$26,000 plus benefits and the cost of living in the
Metroplex is fairly low (including no state income tax). The start date
can be as early as July 1, 1998, although applications will be taken
until the position is filled. Exceptional candidates who might require a
later start date are encouraged to apply. Please send a statement of
research interests, CV, and names of three references to Patrick
Phillips at pphillips at uta.edu or Biology Department, Box 19498,
University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, TX 76019. UTA is an Equal
Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
