about b-galactosidase

Dear Worm Breeders,

We have worked with putitive ECM protein. The other day, I found that
secreted b-galactosidase could not function so lacZ construct that
contain transmembrane stop signal was used. Is it true? I have used NLS
containing LacZ promoterless vector. but If I microinjected new
construct  containing N-terminal secretary signal sequence, what will be
the expression pattern. I really appreciate if I got your reply.
