BBSRC Ph.D. Studentship in the Biology of Ageing

Genetic and Environmental Determinants of Ageing and Life Span in the
Nematode Caenorhabditis elegans

Supervisor: Dr David Gems

A Ph.D. studentship in the biology of ageing in C. elegans will be
available from 1st October, 1999. Utilizing an integrated research
approach, you will be characterizing environmental, metabolic and genetic
determinants of ageing and longevity in this well-characterised model
organism. This project will be carried out in the laboratory of Dr. David
Gems (URL: http://www.gene.ucl.ac.uk/nematode). Applications to join this
expanding research group are invited from individuals with (or expecting) a
good degree in a biology-related subject, a good understanding of genetics
and evolutionary biology, and an interest in the biology of ageing and
longevity.

This position is only available to UK citizens.

The Department of Biology at UCL is a strongly research-oriented department
