Applications are invited for a Laboratory Research Technician at Worcester
Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Situated in Worcester, MA, WPI is an
innovative technological university of engineering, science, management,
the humanities and arts, and the social sciences with an enrollment of
2,700 undergraduate and about 1100 full-time and part-time graduate students.
The successful candidate will assist with research projects and act as
general lab manager for the Ryder laboratory. We study the development of
sensory maps in the nervous sytem, using the nematode C. elegans as a model

with a strong interest in science who is able to work independently.
Responsibilities will include active participation in ongoing research
projects in the laboratory using techniques such as microinjection of DNA
to create transgenic animals, PCR, northern analysis, and genetic screens.
The successful applicant will also be in charge of general laboratory
operations, such as maintaining laboratory stocks and ordering supplies. A
B.S. in a biological science is required. Previous research experience is
desirable. Salary range: $25-28K.
