C. elegans Postdoc position - Oxford, UK
A vacancy exists for a postdoctoral research associate to join the
laboratory of Dr. Alison Woollard at Oxford University, UK, working
on cell fate determination in the nematode worm C. elegans.
The successful candidate will join a group investigating the
mechanisms by which individual cell fates are patterned during
development, particularly the role of transcription factors in
distinguishing cells in the hindgut (Woollard and Hodgkin, Genes
Dev., 14: 596-603, 2000) using a wide variety of molecular genetic
and biochemical techniques.
Applicants should be competent to manage the day-to-day running of a
research project and should have good communication skills, the
ability to work as part of a team and should be able to demonstrate a
sound publication record.
Applicants should also possess a PhD or equivalent, and have a strong
interest in the genetics of development. Experience in molecular
biological techniques, or of C. elegans, would be an advantage.
The position is funded by the University for one year in the first
instance. Salary in the range =A316,286 - =A324, 479, depending on
qualifications and experience.
