Univ. of Florida Post-Doctoral Position

A postdoctoral position in nematology is available in an established, active
research group at the University of Florida, IFAS, Department of Entomology
and Nematology in Gainesville, Florida. Basic and applied research is
being conducted at the interface between biological control and nematode
molecular systematics and evolution. The "post-doc" will be expected to
work with minimal supervision on current projects including: (1) Developing
new technologies for rapidly surveying and identifying specific nematodes,
(2); Exploring the morphological and molecular evolution within and among
clades of plant and insect parasitic nematodes, and (3) Identifying
alternative genes for phylogenetic analysis and taxonomic identification,
and (4) Determining coevolution among parasitic nematodes and their
symbionts and hosts.

The successful applicant must have a strong background in molecular
evolution or genetics with experience in molecular methods. Familiarity
with computational tools, programming, and phylogenetic systematics are
desirable. Duties may include: optimization/troubleshooting of
PCR/cloning/sequencing reactions and serological probes, field isolation,
lab maintenance & experimental manipulation of parasitic nematodes.

The appointment is for one year with additional funding possible.
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, statement of research interests
