A technician position is available in the lab of Doug Portman at the
University of Rochester Center for Aging and Developmental Biology.
The lab studies the genetic control of neuronal cell fate
specification in the C. elegans male tail using genetic, genomic and
biochemical approaches. The position will involve standard C. elegans
techniques (culture, microscopy, microinjection), molecular biology
and supervision of undergraduates. The successful applicant will be
an essential part of the day-to-day and long-term research activities
in the lab. We are located in a new, state-of-the-art research
building with excellent facilities. A Bachelor's degree in a
biological science is required, as is experience with C. elegans
and/or molecular biology. Rochester is a medium-sized city on Lake
Ontario in western New York, offering four distinct seasons, lots of
cultural and outdoor opportunities, several large colleges and
universities, and an affordable cost of living.
