Call for presentations on the use of C. elegans in classroom teaching
at the 14th
International C. elegans Meeting

The C. elegans Teaching Workshop Committee is organizing a series of
teaching workshops
at the upcoming C. elegans meeting. One of the workshops will focus
on the use of C.
elegans in the classroom. We are seeking presentations that
demonstrate classroom use of
C. elegans to illustrate important biological principles. There is
great interest in use
of C. elegans visual resources (e.g. movies, animations, photographs)
and databases in
courses at various levels. For example, are C. elegans movies and
images on topics like
cell division, progression of meiosis, tissue/organ specific gene
expression, subcellular
localization of proteins and multi-protein complexes being used in
the classroom? With
the wealth of GFP-expressing C. elegans strains, are there some that
are particularly
well-suited for classroom demonstration?

Please contact Jim Lissemore (jlissemore at jcu.edu) as soon as possible
if you are
interested in participating in this workshop with a brief description of your
presentation. We are still working on the details of time, date, and
place for the
workshop. Presenters will be selected by the C. elegans Teaching
Workshop Committee.

Thanks very much!
