The UK arm of the WormBase consortium (www.wormbase.org) requires a new
database curator to assist in our ongoing efforts to curate various sets
of genetic data for the nematode C. elegans. In particular the
candidate
would have responsibility for managing the ever growing amount of
information pertaining to nematode genes and alleles. This work occurs
in
liason with Professor Jonathan Hodgkin (University of Oxford) who works
for the Caenorhabditis Genetics Center (CGC).

This post would also offer the potential to become involved in other
aspects of our groups work, such as developing better computer tools for
annotation and database management and being involved in the fortnightly
process of making new releases of the WormBase database.

You should ideally posess a degree in a relevant biological discipline
(or
have a good knowledge of genetics/genomics) and be comfortable in
working
in a computer based environment. Familiarity with UNIX or perl would be
desirable. Enthusiasm, excellent communication skills, and the ability
to
work well in a team are essential.

This post would initially be available until end of June 2007. Informal
enquiries can be made to krb at sanger.ac.uk. Formal applications (with a
CV) should be emailed to humanresources at sanger.ac.uk, or sent to:
