Research technician position, Chuang lab, Cincinnati Children's
Hospital Research Foundation

A research technician position is available in my new laboratory in
the Division of Developmental Biology at Cincinnati Children's
Hospital Research Foundation beginning in November. My research
focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which functional
neural circuits are assembled, using the small roundworm
Caenorhabditis elegans as an experimental organism. The lab uses a
multidisciplinary approach that integrates genetics, molecular
biology, cell biology, biochemistry, electrophysiology and microscopy
to address this question.

Responsibilities include setting up and organizing a new research
lab, handling laboratory administration, maintaining plasmid and
frozen worm strain collection, overseeing equipment procurement and
maintenance, ordering and stocking of lab supplies, ensuring budget
control, training and supervising designated lab personnel and
managing lab safety programs. Other duties include preparing
solutions and assisting with experiments as determined by the PI.

Requires a BS in life sciences and a minimum of 1 year of practical
laboratory experience in molecular biology or genetics. Experience
with C. elegans is preferred but is not essential. Emphasis on
responsibility, organization, database management, interpersonal
skills, independency, and problem solving. The lab is seeking an
energetic and highly motivated individual, who is capable of
multi-tasking. The successful applicant will work in a very
stimulating academic and cultural environment, and will have the
opportunity to contribute as an author on manuscripts.

This is a three-year position that may be extended if additional
grant funds are secured. Part-time position will also be considered.
