Postdoc position, Chuang lab, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Research
A postdoctoral position is available in my new laboratory in the
Division of Developmental Biology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital
Research Foundation beginning in November. My research focuses on
understanding the molecular mechanisms by which functional neural
circuits are assembled, using the small roundworm Caenorhabditis
elegans as an experimental organism. The lab uses a
multidisciplinary approach that integrates genetics, molecular
biology, cell biology, biochemistry, electrophysiology and microscopy
to address this question.
This position involves the study of signaling pathways that specifies
neuronal diversity. Possible approaches include: forward and reverse
genetic approaches to identify new regulators, use of microarray
analysis to identify regulated genes in a neural circuit, and
electrophysiological analysis of the circuit. Prior experience in C.
elegans is helpful but not a prerequisite.
I will have funding available for suitable candidates for at least
the first three years, and will support postdocs in their efforts to
obtain outside funding. The successful applicant will work in a very
stimulating academic and cultural environment.

Applicant should have a Ph.D. degree in genetics, cell biology,
molecular biology, neurobiology, biochemistry or similar with
experience in molecular biology techniques. Interested candidates
should please send a brief cover letter describing research
experience, CV, one or two reprints of published work/preprints of
work in preparation or in press, and the names and addresses of three
people who can provide recommendations to Dr. Chiou-Fen Chuang at
