Postdoctoral position, Maine lab, Syracuse University
A postdoctoral position is available in my laboratory in the Dept of
Biology at Syracuse University. Our research focuses on
understanding the regulation of gene expression and cell fate in the
C. elegans germ line. We use a variety of genetic, molecular, cell
biological, and biochemical approaches to study these questions.
This position involves studying the regulation of meiotic silencing
of unpaired chromatin, including the identification and analysis of
components of the meiotic silencing machinery and targets of the
silencing process. Funding is available for three years, although
the applicant will be encouraged to apply for his/her own funding.
The Syracuse University Dept of Biology has numerous faculty studying
aspects of developmental biology and gene regulation, as well as the
relationship between evolution and development, in a variety of
organisms, including C. elegans, Drosophila, fish, and mouse. There
is a strong germline research group. An overview of faculty research
is available at http://biology.syr.edu/.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree with experience in molecular
biology, genetics, and/or biochemistry. Interested candidates should
send a cover letter describing research experience, a CV, preprints
of work in preparation or in press, and the names and addresses of
three people who can provide recommendations to Dr. Eleanor Maine,
Dept of Biology, 108 College Place, Syracuse, NY 13244 or
emmaine at syr.edu.
