Dear Colleagues,

A postdoctoral position is currently open in my
laboratory (see below). I would be grateful if
you could bring the announcement below to the
attention of any postgraduate students or
postdocs who you think might be interested.

Thank you and best wishes

David Gems

Postdoctorial Position in the Biology of Ageing in C. elegans
University College London

Applications are invited for a three-year,
European Union-funded post in the laboratory of
Dr. David Gems (www.ucl.ac.uk/~ucbtdag/).

The subject area is the biology of ageing in C.
elegans. A focus will be testing candidate
mechanisms of ageing, which will involve
construction of transgenic nematode lines,
development of biochemical assays (in
collaboration with Prof. A.J. Rivett, Bristol
University), and stress resistance and lifespan
assays. This post is part of the EU (Framework 6)
Integrated Project: "Proteomage, The Ageing
Proteome". Experience of molecular biology is
essential, and of C. elegans genetics and biology
is highly desirable. The successful applicant
will join an established research team in the
Centre for Research into Ageing, and a broader
consortium of 18 other European research groups
and companies. An ability to work in a busy and
interactive environment is essential.

To apply, please email a CV with three references
to David Gems (david.gems at ucl.ac.uk). For job
description and person specification or further
and enquiries about details of the project,
contact D.G.

The salary will vary according to experience, but
starts at £25,633 (38,100 Euro; US $48,600) plus
London Allowance (£2,472; 3,700 Euro; US $4,700).

The position is available from October 2006.
