From mmbarr from pharmacy.wisc.edu Fri Jun 22 16:03:25 2007 From: mmbarr from pharmacy.wisc.edu (Maureen Barr) Date: Sat Jun 23 11:59:47 2007 Subject: [Celegans] Postdoc positions in Barr lab: cilia biology Message-ID: Postdoctoral Associates Barr Laboratory, Rutgers University We are looking for one or two postdocs to study neurogenetics or to model genetic diseases of cilia in C. elegans. There are four main projects in the Barr laboratory. Project I studies ciliary trafficking and signaling while simultaneously modeling autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease in C. elegans. Project II, A C. elegans Model for Nephronophthisis (NPHP), is an extension of the lab's interest in sensory biology and neuronal development. We recently discovered that the C. elegans NPHP genes modulate the length and shape of a cilium, enabling exploration of the mechanisms controlling ciliary morphogenesis. Project III is a new line of research aimed at understanding the molecular genetic basis of neural tube defects using the worm as model system. In Project IV, we focus on the cellular, genetic, and molecular basis of sexual behaviors. Requirements include a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences and strong publication record. While the positions are NIH-funded, candidates are expected to apply for independent funding. Please electronically send a CV and three references to Maureen M.
