Glutaraldehyde autofluorescence

Is there any means of eliminating (red) autofluorescence following 
fixation of HeLa cells?  I fix for 5 min with 1% EM grade glutaraldehyde 
in PBS.  I need to preserve beta galactosidase activity which is being 
transiently expressed in these cells.  If anyone has any experience in 
this area I'd love to hear from them.
