prep of brain extract?

hi,

i'm starting some primary neuronal culture experiments (embryonic chick
brain) and thought it would be neat to test the effects of a (hopefully
trophic) embryonic chick brain extract.  Any suggestions (or detailed
protocols :) ) on how to prepare crude extracts from embryonic brain would
be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance,
