One quick and relatively easy way is as follows: dissolve your
radiolabelled cholesteryl esters (usually cholesteryl linoleate) in a
suitable solvent and coat the inside surface of a glass tube with it.
Either simple vortexing or the use of a roto-vap is all that is needed to
deposit a thin coating of the lipid on the glass while the solvent is
evaporated. Next, incubate serum or purified LDL in the glass tube under
constant but gentle mixing conditions. Do not vortex or you run the risk
of producing LDL aggregation and possibly oxidized LDL.
