genetic background NIH3T3

Hello,

Can anybody tell from what mouse strain NIH3T3 orignally was derived. I'm
plannning a homologous recombination, and I want to use NIH3T3 for it. My
construct contains genetic material from the 129 strain, and I've been
told that homologous recombination gets very hard if the receiving cell
line has a different genetic background.

If anybody has information on this, please also mail it directly to me,
