Sodium regulation in organisms

There are some diseases that affect the Sodium regulation mechanism in
cells and cause acumulation of liquids (in extracellular matrix), but how
does this work, and which processes cause the changes?
	I hope somebody is able to answer my doubt.

If we supposed that the potasium average is ok, in which way the
sodiu-potasium bomb could be involucrated in this alterations?
