Hi!

I am in search of a dye to stain living cells which would absorb in the
in the visible range. I looking at hepatocytes through an inverted
microscope (attached to an atomic force microscope, but that is
irrelevent) and they don't show very well at all. The cells are on a
glass cover slip stuck to a steel AFM specimen stub. So my idea is to
use a dye in conjunction with a white background for the coverslip. Even
if the dye doesn't harm cells only for a few hours, and gives a slight
increase in contrast, it would work fine. Would coomassie blue work? (pl
excuse if this is a repost, i am not sure if my last mail got through).
Many thanks - Kiran
