One of my favorites molecular biology texts is Recombinant DNA, 2nd
ed, by Watson, Gilman, Witkowski, and Zoller, published by Scientific
American. But selelction of a text really depends on the emphasis you
plan on using in your course. Are you planning on a basic approach
dealing with mechanisms, or would you like to talk about applications.
The above text does talk to some degree about mechanisms like
transcription, translation, etc, but is heavy into application.
Another good text which is heavy into basic mechanisms is Molecular
Biology by Freifelder, published by Jones and Bartlett.
