POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN THE MOLECULAR AND CELLULAR BASIS OF
NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASE

Postdoctoral position with funding are available immediately for work on
the genetic and cellular basis of neurodegenerative disease. The broad
focus of the laboratory is on the role of hereditary ion channel disorders
in degenerative cerebellar and neuromuscular diseases.

Cellular and molecular pathogenesis. Fellow will contribute the study of
mutant ion channels expressing disease-associated mutations in vitro and/or
to the ongoing characterization of transgenic mouse models of excitatory
synaptic degeneration and the generation of additional transgenic or
knock-in models. Emphasis is on defining molecular pathways leading to
excitatory synaptic degeneration. A multidisiplinary approach is used
including cell biological, pharmacological, and immunohistochemical
techniques using confocal and electron microscopy in transgenic and
knockout murine systems. A PhD or MD with experience with molecular
biology and/or confocal microscopy is preferred.
