I am trying to find out if anyone knows whether or not the arg-7 gene is
transcribed when arginine is in the growth medium. I would like to know if the
mutant I am working with, made with pARG7.8 transformation, might be caused by
a competition of transcription at the site of insertion. If I grow my mutant on
arg and the phenotype persists, does that mean that the phenotype is not caused
by competing activity at the pARG7.8 promoter?
Any references that may help resolve this would be appreciated.
