In some data bases, OVID for one, a dash(-) is seen as a delineator between
two separate search terms.  Therefore, a search for "OSM-1" finds "OSM" 
and then "1". A search for "OSM1"is a single search.  Database searching is
too important to ignore, although I agree that the dash does add clarity.
