Synchronizing cells?

Hi,
 
Please, does anybody knows which is the best way to get synchronized Chlamydomo
nas reinhardtii cells? I heard about 12h light/ 12h dark and 16h light/ 8h dark
cicles, but I don't know if this really represent any difference.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
