In all the procedures I have read for the preparation of autolysin, cells are grown phototrophically before gametes are prepared and mixed. Is there a reason why this is preferred to growing the cells on acetate? Is there a difference in the yield or activity of the product? Please reply to rfunke at unlinfo.unl.edu. Thankyou. Roel Funke
