We've had a couple of posts here recently about sources for algal
cultures. This may be a good time to remind everyone that mutants and
wild type strains of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, C. moewusii and C.
eugametos are available from the Chlamydomonas Genetics Center at Duke
University (chlamy at acpub.duke.edu). Many wild type strains of other
Chlamydomonas species and related algae are available from the major algal
collections. The Chlamydomonas database
http://probe.nalusda.gov:8300/cgi-bin/browse/chlamydb
includes everything in the Chlamydomonas Genetics Center collection, plus
the Chlamy accessions from UTEX, CCAP, SAG, ATCC, and IAM, with
cross-links so you can see which UTEX strain is equivalent to one from
SAG, etc.
